Open Government

Open Government

Transparency is one of the most critical components of good governance. Without an open and publicly informed process, there is no way to verify if actions taken by elected officials and staff are true to their purposes and stated outcomes, however good those might be.

If I am elected, the citizens will be provided access to more and better information about the use of their taxpayer money. We live in an era of unprecedented and increasing access to information. Unfortunately, this does not hold as true when it comes to our city government. Information about government activity is oftentimes buried in a counter-intuitive location on the City’s website. Worse still, information is presented without citation to primary sources and without the entire data set needed for the reader to draw a logical conclusion. We cannot afford to govern that way in Denton any longer.
